On the 9th of August 1956 women of South Africa from all walks of life, came together in their diversity to stand up against an injust system that threatens their freedom of movement.
After 1994 that day was declared a public holiday and the month of Augusts turned Women's Month in South Africa. As such this day has been celebrated and recognised in various forms ever since.
This year, I, together with Tebogo Buntu felt called to create a 2 day women's month event in honour of the women of 1956. We will commemorate the day through various talks and activities
We therefore invite you to join us if you feel called .

258. Understanding Ancestors
Sunday Jun 23, 2024
Sunday Jun 23, 2024
The topic of ancestors is a tricky one, it has the potential to polarise people where others outrightly reject the existence and relevance of ancestors while others literally swear by ancestors. It took me a while to find a guest on this topic and who better to speak on this than the co-founder of Ancestral Voices, the incredible Verona Spence- Adofo who needs no introduction as they are a looming figure in this space.
The conversation is easy, understandable and foundational, this was deliberate because this is a topic I will keep visiting and going deeper and deeper on the podcast.
Bio
Spiritual consultant, educator, researcher, filmmaker and published writer Verona Spence-Adofo is the Co-founder of Ancestral Voices, an educational initiative spanning over a decade with the sole purpose of documenting and disseminating research-based knowledge about African sacred cosmologies, their spiritual philosophies and practices. Over the past 14 years, she has accumulated a wealth of spiritual and healing wisdom from working with different healers, medicine people and scholars across the globe, deepening her own spiritual understanding and cultivating her gifts to assist others.
