On the 27th of April 1994 South Africa held it's very first democratic election. The day has since been termed FREEDOM DAY. In this episode I am in conversation with Willam Goldstone on Freedom, these are some questions and issues we touched on: 1. What exactly is Freedom? 2. Are black people free? If not, what will it take to be free 3. Do we need politicians to be free 4. Forgivenesss? Do black people need to forgive white people? 5. Identity politics and the dweling on the past struggles And much more Bio William hails from Wentworth, a township in the south of Durban, which is home to people of a mixed racial and cultural background. He completed his High School education at Fairvale Secondary School (1988), one of three high schools in his area. Whilst at high school William was introduced to trade unionism and being the keen learner he is, often spent weekends and school holidays listening to seasoned trade unionists and how they engaged with management of various companies. Within a short space of time he was utilised as a stand in when leaders were, for one or the other reason not available. William got his first job at Telkom, appointed as a personnel officer and after a few months of interaction with employees was elected KZN Provincial Secretary of the Post Office Employees Association of South Africa, at 23 years of age. In 1998, the company identified William as one of its future managers and during this same period appointed him Corporate Account Manager, based in Kimberley, then Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. He ran a very successful account management practise successfully fending off aggressive competitors at that time. He resigned from Telkom in 2001 and landed a job within the logistics and supply chain management industry, where he spent two years managing client relationships across the length and breadth of South Africa. Subsequent industry interest were mobile telephony, local government and education where William spends most of his time of late. William is the CEO of a university based business incubator, who’s prime purpose is the management of innovation and business incubation projects. He holds a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) Management Degree (Durban University of Technology - DUT), Post Graduate Diploma (Management College of Southern Africa – MANCOSA), Diploma: Corporate Law (University of Johannesburg – UJ) and Diploma: Labour Law (Graduate Institute of Management and Technology – GIMT) Contacts: Facebook: William Goldstone Instagram: Willam Goldstone
