Today I close the podcast conversations for the year with the legendary Sam Cowen. To many people of my generation Sam needs no introduction she has been a household name since the mid 90s having been part of an unforgettable era of The Rude Awaking. But Sam is much more than that and you will here in this coversation as we cover much of her life journey and work. The coversation is divided into three parts Part 1, we cover her media and radio personality era Part 2 we cover her sobriety journey which led her to writing From Whiskey To Water and ultimately starting her Coaching Practice Part 3 we cover the life coaching space and it's dynamics Sam is incredible funny, I laugh more than I talk in this coversation Bio In her years in the media, Samantha interviewed thousands of people from around the world. These personalities included celebrities, world leaders, authors, artists, students, teachers, criminals, and everyday people. What stood out for Samantha was that everyone had a story to tell, and more importantly was seeking to better understand who they were and how they fit in the world. Samantha draws on those experiences and insights and has focused her career to helping other channel their energies in the direction of personal growth and success. Samantha sees coaching as a facilitation tool which helps individuals unlock their true potential and make critical life decisions which are often easily ignored in favour of complacency and comfort. Samantha has coached business executives, media personalities, students, and medical professionals, to name a few, to break through the personal barriers and achieve their goals. Samantha is also deeply committed to helping people with addiction challenges to work through recovery and find the value of life without addiction. Drawing on her over 23 years media and presenting experience as a morning radio show co host, Samantha Cowen is well versed in communicating and engaging with people from all walks of life. Sam Cowen is a good choice for fun, interactive and engaging events. Both an irreverent speaker and a fun MC or workshop facilitator. Sam has done it all from Radio news, a TV gameshow, MC work and talks for women and new mothers; she also co-authored the 5-season sell-out play – “No Sugar, Canderel Please” with Harry Sideropoulos. She has written best-selling books on parenting, The Parktown Boys abuse scandal and her own alcohol addiction and recovery.
